The 1000plus Planning Committee
is comprised of 7 executive board members and a variety of subcommittees
who work closely to make 1000plus a success.
Executive Committee Members are expected to attend a bi-weekly meetings
during the fall semester and weekly meetings during the spring semester.
Executive Committee Members must be available for the March 27th Day of
Service.
Executive Board Member Positions:
- Website Graphic Designer
- Maintain and improve visual appearance of 1000plus website
- Ensure all images and color schemes on 1000plus website align with 1000plus branding
- Upload and maintains all pictures and media for 1000plus
- Work Closely with Web Designer to integrate site appearance with functionality
- Registration Coordinator
- Work with Webmaster to ensure online registration interface is user friendly
- Work with Community Organization Liaison and Volunteer Site Organizer to ensure all Volunteer Site data is properly entered to ensure successful registration
- Work with Kick-Off coordinator to develop a simple and understandable check-in and day-of registration process
- Kick-Off Coordinator
- Communicate with UC for all space usage and reservations
- Work to develop a 30 min “Day-Of” program to get volunteers excited and prepare them for the day of service
- Request all tech needs
- Recruit speakers (student/staff/alumni) for Kick-Off Event
- Work with Registration Coordinator to develop a simple and understandable check-in and day-of registration process
- Convene the Kick-Off Event Subcommittee
- Community Agency Liaison and Service Site Organizer (POSITION FILLED)
- Connect with community organizations and work to establish Volunteer Sites for the 1000plus Day of Service
- Set clear expectations for sites and establish start/end times and obtain clear descriptions of what will be done at each Volunteer Site
- Serve as liaison between Pittsburgh Cares and 1000plus
- Develop and communicate travel plans for each Volunteer Site
- Complete Project Confirmation forms for each Volunteer Site
- Site Leader Liaison (POSITION FILLED)
- Drive Site Leader recruitment
- Work with Pittsburgh Cares to develop and facilitate training for Site Leaders
- Create Reflective Activities for Site Leaders to facilitate
- Organize the site leaders on day-of and creates the process for sorting volunteers into their site location groups
- Serve as point of contact for all Site Leaders and distribute all communication to the Site Leaders
- Campus Contact (POSITION FILLED)
- Reach out to campus organizations and offices to help recruit participants
- Develop relationships with particular leaders to help get information spread throughout campus
- Work to get student organizations committed to large service events on the day-of service
- Convenes the Campus Outreach Subcommittee
- Marketing Coordinator (POSITION FILLED)
- Identify creative and unique ways to publicize 1000plus
- Ensure brand consistency in all 1000plus Marketing pieces
- Coordinate the T-shirt design and order
- Communicate with the Piper, Tartan, and other campus publications
- Work with Pittsburgh Cares to develop a press-release packet for all Pittsburgh media outlets
- Convene the Canvassing Subcommittee

- Assist in the coordination of the Kick-Off Event on the day of service
Application Time Line:
The 1000plus Planning Committee will be accepting new applications until
Friday, October 23rd. Once all application have been received and reviewed
all applicants will be informed of committee's suggestion for placement on
the planning committee.
Because there are only 3 Executive Committee positions all applicants are
encouraged to indicate which subcommittees they would prefer to work with,
in the event they are not placed in an Executive Committee position.
