The 1000plus Planning Committee coordinates a Carnegie Mellon day of service during the spring semester. This year, students, faculty, staff, and alumni have an opportunity to positively impact the greater Pittsburgh community by engaging in service efforts on Saturday, March 26th, 2011. 1000plus is partnering with Pittsburgh Cares to provide multiple volunteer sites throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. (Please visit our Opportunities page to see the opportunities from the 2010 Day of Service). It is our goal to provide service opportunities for individuals, groups and alumni in the Carnegie Mellon community that allow them to have a personally relevant impact in the local area. Also, we hope that 1000plus is a chance to connect and network with people of different interest that share the common goal of promoting service.

What if I want to register my group?During registration, you can specify that you want to be a group leader and add the names of other members of your group.
What is a site leader?Site Leaders are a core part of 1000plus' success. Without the help of Site Leaders it would be almost impossible to organize and mobilize over 1000 volunteers in the matter of a few hours. As a Site Leader you will help direct volunteers to a service site and interface with the hosting service organization to ensure everything goes smoothly. At the end of service experience you'll facilitate a short conversation with your group to help everyone reflect on their experience. We also hope you'll be gracious enough to wear one of our snazzy 1000plus T-shirts to help promote the event. We'll give you the shirt and let you know the dates it should be worn.
I want to be a site leader, what do I do?Please email us for more information about how to sign up as a site leader.
What times do I have to serve? The times that you have to serve depends on the opportunity that you register for.
Do I get free food? You will receive snacks in morning from the kick off events. Additionally, some service sites may be serving a meal or snacks.
